S.P.Sailaja or SriPathi Panditaradhyula Sailaja was born on the 22 of July in the year 1953; a versatile singer and was sought after by many musicians in the early 80s and late 90s. For about a decade, Sailaja shone in the cine industry as a versatile singer and an eminent actress apart from a humble personality. Sailaja has lent songs for many songs in almost all of the south Indian languages like Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam films. Within a span of around 2 decades, Sailaja has sung more than 5000 songs till date. She is also recognized as the sister of the great play back singer S.P.Balasubramaniam.

Sailaja was born on the 22 of July in the year 1953 to an orthodox Hindu Saivite family in Konetammapeta in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. Being born in an orthodox family, Sailaja had more restrictions to get into the cine field though she already had her brother shining in the same field. It was finally her destiny along with hard work and interest towards singing that made her to take it as a career. Apart from taking singing as her career, she somehow managed to convince her family to take acting as her profession too. Ultimately, she succeeded in both her passions in the cine field with singing and acting simultaneously. Her father was S.P.Sambamurthy, who was a well known exponent of Hari Katha. Her elder brother, S.P.Balasubramanian is a renowned and a prolific play back singer in the whole of the Indian cine industry; he has sung many songs in all the south Indian languages like Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and many songs in Hindi (Bollywood) as well. She proved to be the blood relation of S.P.B making her get laurels from great music directors in the industry where her brother worked with.
She is married to an actor named Shuba Lekha Sudhakar who is a Tollywood actor. The couple has a son called Sreekar.

Singing Carreer of S.P. Sailaja
It was in the year 1978; Sailaja took up her career as a professional play back singer. It was no wonder that she bought laurels for her voice was best suited for high octet songs that were quite unreliable when it was given a chance for other singers in the late 70s.
Sailaja’s first song was recorded for Illayaraja. At first Sailaja approached Illaiyaraaja to show her interest towards singing. This made Raaja let her sing a couple of lines and which rather impressed him. Raaja gave her a chance to sing for the song “Solai Kuyile” which when released turned out to be a big hit. This was indeed a tedious song to sing as it had only high octets and pitches to be dealt with; but Sailaja blowed out with a first taking making everyone’s eye on her for she sang the song with least ease. So, this sing made her a break in her career and this was the initiation for her success stone in her career which later had a great leap ahead. Some of the other films that had her songs were Sivaranjini in th eyar 1979, Pranam Kareedu, Shankarabharanam in 1979, Mosagadu, Subhalekha, Aagaya Gangai in 1982, Sitaara in 1983, Sagara Sangamam, Mr.Bharath, Vamsa Vriksham, Seetha koka Chilaka, Janani Jhamma Bhoomi, Mayuri in 1984, Swathi in 1985, Thazhuvaatha Kaigal in 1986, Siri Vennela and Jackie in the year 1985. Her latest recording was for Unnai Charanadeinden in the year 2004.

Sailaja has acted in for a handful of movies in Tamil and Telugu. Sailaja learnt classical dance which made her an additional qualification to work on as an actress in film for dance was not new to her. Some of the notable films that she acted were Salangai Oli in Tamil and Saagara Sangamam in Telugu in the year 1983. Apart from the singing specialty she is also well versed in the acting also. She has attracted the minds of various people with the help of her great acting in the movies.
