Yugendran Vasudevan Nair – Play back singer
Yugendran Vasudevan Nair is an Indian film actor and a singer and made himself as an established singer with as many as 600 songs in various languages. Yugendran has occasionally been a music director and a host for various TV channels anchoring many musically bound programs. Yugendran is the son of veteran play back singer who made himself a wonderful stay back in the Tamil cinema industry; he is none other than Malaysia Vasudevan – a famous and a marvelous play back singer during the early 1990s and late 1980s. Yugendran has lent his voice in many languages like Tmail, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Early Life and Back Ground of Yugendran Playback singer
Yugendran, being the son of the famous and veteran play back singer cum actor – Malyasia Vasudevan was brought out in a music oriented family. He has 2 sisters namely Pavithra and Prashanthini. Out of the two sisters, Prashanthini is a Tamil play back singer and has sung in some Tamill movies as well like 12B, Veyil and Vaaranam Ayiram.
Yugendran gave a very good performance during the launch of Tamil radio station in a very popular manner in Sri Lanka called Swarna Oli during the year 1999. This was the place which was the most unforgettable moment and place for Yugendran as he met his wife who is a popular Radio Jockey and her name was Hema Malini and he met her as a host. His wife, Hema Malini has her origin form Singapore (a Singaporean basically) and the couple together have two children namely Visashan Naarayan and Kishan Kutty Naarayan.

Yugendran was a mirundangist when he first stepped inside the film industry and also he was very popular for giving a solo performance at the age of 10 which is one of the most fabulous things to be noted. He did his Arangetram in the great manner with the presence of the great Dr. Balamurali Krishna in the viola and also the great Music Maestro Ilayaraja also attended the function. His first song was for the film Uzhavan Magan, Senthoora Poove where he sang the shepherd boy’s voice. Yugendran went in singing in stage shows with his dad in India as well as overseas throughout the world. When Yugendran’s voice was childish i.e. before the age of 14 he used to sing the female portion of the duets his father rendered on stage. After his voice broke, he went ahead doing solo performances in countries like Switzerland, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia and The United States of America even before coming into the field of play back singing in Cinemas.
Yugendran’s debut as a play back singer was with the song “Pollachi Santhayile” for a Karthik movie and after this song; Yugendran was offered many chances in the industry like “Parthein Parthien” for the film Parthein Rasithen starring Prashanth, Simran and Laila in the lead roles. He rendered most of the songs under the composition of the music director Bharadwaj. Yugendran has sung under compositions of many legendary music directors like the Oscar winner A R Rahman, Illaiyaraaja and also to the youngest music director of the generation – Yuvan Shankar Raja, Sri Kanth Deva, his father Deva, Sirpy and Adutyan. Yugendran gained experience from many music directors in the film industry. He continues to sing till date. His latest being the song from the film Goa.
Yugendran also composes music. He has composed music for Veeramum Eeramum, Balam and he did the re – recording for Aghatiyan’s movie, Nenjathai Killathe starring Vikranth for the lead role. His latest venture is Nellai Santhippu which is yet to be released. Some his notable songs as a play back singer are “A Samba A Samba” for the film Pandavar Bhoomi starring Arun Kumar in the lead role, “Aadi Aadi Vaama” for the film Indran under the composition of Mani Sharma, “I love you da” for the film Autograph starring Cheran, Gopika and Sneha in the lead characters, “Carolina” for the film Khadal Sadugu under the composition of Deva, “Enna Parkurai” from the film Thavamai Thavamirunthu set to the tunes of Sabesh Murali, “Kalyanam than Kattikittu odipolama” for the film Saamy which was set under the composition of Harris Jeyaraj having Vikram and Trisha in the lead role, “Kilakke Parthen vidiyalai irunthai anbu thozhi” for the film Autograph, “Kozhi Vandada” for Aaha set to the tunes of Deva, “Muthal Muthalai” for the film Lesa Lesa starring Madhavan, Shayam and Trisha in the lead role, “Oh Maria” for Khadalar Dhinam starring Kunal and Sonali Bedre for the lead, “Suthuthey Suthuthey” for Nepali wherein Bharath and Meera Jasmine has taken over the lead characters, “Picaso Oviyam” for the film Royal Family for Bharani, “Pathe Pathe” for Relax under Deva’s composition, “Mullai Poo” for Khadal Samrajyam” under the composition of Yuvan Shankar Raja, “Oru Mathiri” for Kee Moo, “Oh Shalala Jamai” for the film Junior Senior under the composition of Premji Gangai Amaran and many more to add on to his career stroke. Yugendran has ver well proved to be a successful singer and made his name an established one in the cinema industry.
Acting Career of Yugendran Playback singer
Yugendran Vasudevan Nair’s debut to be appeared on screen was in various Tamil movies and that gave him good recognition in the Tamil film industry. He acted in the the famous Tamil movie Poovellam Un Vaasam as an opposite to Jyotika and Ajith. After his great appearance in the previous movies, he started to continue his acting and that was with Illaiya Thalapathy Vijay. His latest movie is Yutham Sei, a Myshkin movie which is released in the year 2011. Yugendran has acted as a lead role playing the character of a hero in 3 movies: Kaiyodu Kai, Ulla Kadathal and Patchai Nirame. Though the hero roles did not do well in his career; he acted in many TV serials too. Some of his Tele serials were Megala and Idhayam. He has acted in TV Dramas in countries like Singapore and Malaysia.
Playback singer Yugendran as Host
Yugendran started out hosting musical programs in the Jaya TV and went in hosting more musical shows on Sun TV and Vijay TV. He then was also roped into the host other genre programs especially reality programs such as treasure hunt on Jaya TV and a couples contest show in the same channel.
Yugendran started a company called Rambutan Productions in India and Rambutan media woks in Singapore. He is currently producing programs for India, Singapore, Malaysia and Sri Lanka. He runs the company with his wife Hemal Malini.
