In the year 1938, the mass media was initially started Andhra Pradesh as a partnership concern. Later, the Deccan Chronicle was separated and started by its own and came to other parts of India. The earlier promoters were declared bankruptcy and got out of the Deccan Holdings Private Limited. Late Mr. T Chandrashekar Reddy took over the operations in 1976. Later Mr Reddy subsequently handed over the operations to his two sons T Vinayak Ravi Reddy and T Venkatram Reddy (The current IPL franchisee Deccan Chargers owner) who have been managing its operations since late 1970s. Since May 2004, it started printing the International Herald Tribune in Hyderabad and sold for Rs 30 per copy.

Deccan Chronicle IPL Franchise

Deccan Chronicle took the franchise of a team in Indian Premier League. The Deccan Chargers team of Hyderabad which represents the state Andhra Pradesh is owned by Deccan Chronicle. It holds the franchise for that team as it is from its own state. On January 24, 2008 this media group acquired the franchise from IPL auction for $107 million.
