Chennai Ashtalakshmi temple is situated near Elliot's beach. One should not miss the opportunity of visiting this Ashtalaksmi temple during their visit to Chennai.Ashta means eight. The eight manifestations of Goddess Lakshmi can be seen here in this temple.

. This temple is in the suburbs of
Chennai city
. The temple is near the popular beach of Elliot's beach in Chennai. Thiruvanmiyur is the nearest bus stop and you can reach easily to this temple from here. This Ashtalakshmi temple is the only temple features the eight signs of
Goddess Mahalakshmi
. The temple was built with the characteristics of Dravidian architecture. In
Mumbai
also there is one Temple of Mahalakshmi which is also near the seashore. And the temple of Ashtalakshmi in Chennai is also built near seashore. This temple is situated 16 km from chennai city.
In this temple you can see the eight manifestations of Goddess. Eight manifestations of the Goddess are divided into different categories. First Sri Aadhi Lakhsmi who is considered as Goddess of Health. Second Sri Dhanya Lakshmi Goddess of Food, third Sri Dairiya Lakhsmi, known for Goddess of Courage, Fourt Gaja Lakshmi – Goddess of Luck, Fifth Goddess of Children – Sri Santhana Lakshmi, sixth Sri Dhana Lakshmi known for Goddess of Wealth, seventh Sri Vijaya lakshmi who is for Victory and eighth Godessis for education – Sri Vidya lakshmi. Here you can also see the other deities are Sri Hanuman, Sri Ganesh and Sri Guruvayurappa. In this temple the popular festivals like Navaratri, Deepavali and Pongal are celebrated with great fervor. With the sea background Ashtalakshmi temple looks very beautiful.
You can reach Ashtalakshmi Temple via road using public transport service also. Can hire auto or cab to visit the temple. The temple is open from 9.30 to 12.30 pm and 4.00 pm to 8.30 pm.
