Foundation of Lions Club
Lions Commence in the United States in 1917, at that time an autonomous group react to the idyllic thing presented to them by Chicago Insurance agent, Melvin Jones. The idyllic thing is that giving service as a group to the fellow men without look upon to politics, region, race or in any way of personal importance to people. There was a sign off made to help people all over the world in commercial motive. The conference with 25 independent groups on Jun7th, 1917 and hence the Lions club formed. The official name of Lions is International Association of Lions club or Lions Club International.
The emblem of Lions Club is consists of gold letter 'L' on a spherical purple field with spherical gold area bordered with two lions on either side facing away from the center.The word 'Lions' appear on the top of the emblem and the word 'International' appears on the bottom of the emblem. Emblematically, both Lions face past and future, looking proud of the past and confident in future. All Lions should wear this emblem without fail. The colors purple sets for faithfulness to country, friends, and the truthfulness of mind and heart. It is the traditional color of strength, courage and tireless dedication to a cause. Gold represents sincerity of purpose, liberality in judgment, purity in life and generosity in mind, heart and purse toward his fellow man.

Growth of Lions Club
Lions Club has grown throughout the world. As of 2000, there are 1,413,431 members in 44,616 clubs in 741 districts in 185 countries. Lions Club headquarters is present in Oak Brook, Illinois, U.S.A. and is presiding over by an elected Board of 33 members from all parts of the world. This Board includes 28 Directors, 2 Vice Presidents, and the Immediate Past President and is leaded by the International President.
A Lion joining in a Lions club for the initial time should pay an entrance fee to the Lions Club Association. Member's annual dues to the International Association, the District and home club form financial commitment other than the meeting costs. A Lion member may relocate to any club in the world, area under discussion to the new club's approval. It is a necessity that a Lion complete the transfer within six months following the date of extinction of membership in their earlier club. Lions Club meetings are held at least twice a month. The required attendance of members (either at club meetings or at activities), type of program, formation of committees, etc., are all decisions finally taken by the local club based on the broad recommendations of the Association. Lions Clubs elect their officers annually and work through club committees. All taxes for a Lions Club activities are raised by the efforts of the members through whatever legal fund-raising projects they may formulate.
The basis of membership in Lions Club is that any person of legal majority, good moral character and good reputation in their community are granted membership in a suitably certified Lions Club.
