Parry's Corner in Chennai
Parry's corner is a shopper's enjoyment which is one of the busiest places in Chennai junction which is originated at 1895 when a passenger vehicle powered by electricity conveyed by overhead cables and running on rails laid in a public road began to travel regularly for commercial purposes. In Tamil we can call Parry's as "Pari Munai'. One can buy any type of things including imported items here in a very cheapest rate. This is one of the jam-packed areas in Chennai. Parry's is situated in close proximity to the Chennai port at the juncture of Beach road and NSC Bose road. The name Parry's is named after a foreigner called Thomas Parry who a Celtic man was doing wood furniture commercial business and set up the EID Parry company in the year of 1787. Several partnerships followed and this becomes Parry & Co in 1819. Nevertheless Thomas Parry was keep on looking for new prospects and in the year of 1805 parry established San Thome which is considered as the first industry started at Chennai.
Thomas Parry bought a land and garden house (presently Leith Castle) diagonally the way from high court and later developed as an office of parry and lane. Later on this garden house is expanded to export military leather ware. As years move, Parry & Co business unit is considered as a second largest business unit in India for uninterrupted business. Parry died because of Cholera near Cuddalore in 1824.Where he was buried Parry's was considered as the well established place in Chennai. The corporate headquarters was stand on the corner and this company is famous for commercial banking, trading and also a major hub for intracity and intercity bus service. But at present the intercity bus service is transferred to Koyambedu.

Parry's corner is nowadays very busiest place where everything can be sold here. Nearest to Parry's corner is the Burma Bazaar where all genus of imported goods are sold here. There is a place called "George town" which is the whole sale area within itself has so many streets and each street is famous for one special type of things. Conventional bits and pieces like Pattamara mats, Palmyra fiber handicrafts, brass and bronze castings and traditional jewellary, metal works and stone carvings, Kanchipuram and Arni silks are also available. Visit to Parry's Corner
Any one may decide to take a long run to Parry's Corner. Visitors can see that there are so many fancy bangle shops at Sowcarpet, NSC Bose road. Also Tanjore paintings, Kerala and Ajantha murals, glass paintings. Candle works are seen here. It's really amazing and fantastic to roam around the NSC Bose road. It will take approximately 1 hour to reach Parry's corner from Beach Road. Sowcarpet is considered as a mini north India. There are so many shops to purchase chudidhars, salwars, sarees, etc., but we should bargain for each and every thing. Then only we will find benefit. In the road side we can find also samosas, Pani Puri, etc., and utilize it for snacks time or time pass. Very near to it Hotel Adyar Anandha Bhavan at Triplicane, can have nice food here.
