Rotary clubs are introduced for services by the businessmen and professional in a society to improve the status. The Rotary Clubs are part of Rotary international found in 1905 in Chicago by an attorney. Rotary Club does many good jobs for the society and the membership is open to all the people of the society. A community will be formed for each region and a president will be selected to lead the activities. The Rotary organization is not politically or religion oriented. It is a non governmental and non-profit organization supported by many people. As of 2007, there are more than 145,000 female members all over the world. The present day concerns of Rotary includes the welfare of children, improving illiteracy, blood donation, polio, protecting the environment and reducing world hunger etc,.

The Rotary Club of Madras T.Nagar was established and inaugurated in the lawns of Hotel Savera on the 15th of March, 1986 by the Governor Dr.S.Sundar Raman. The rotary Club was sponsored by the Rotary Club of chennai South West. the club clenched its Charter on the 16th of May,1986, and the Chief Guest was the then Chief Justice of Madras High Court Mr.Chandrudu. The Charter President R.Krishnamoorthy is a leading advocate and was then the Advocate General of Tamil Nadu. The rotary club has never been short of fellowship and services. The club has been serving a yeoman service to the community in the past years and will continue that in future too.

After confirming the support of Rotary International, the club has been associated with various projects benefiting the Community at large. Rotary Club of T.Nagar for the past 24 years has been a forerunner in providing service in the various facets of Health Care, Hygiene, Education, Employment, International understanding, etc.,Rotary Rajan Eye Bank is a joint project of the Club and Rajan Eye Care Hospital, Chennai, which mainly focuses on Blind Free India. The Rotary Club is also actively associated with elderly citizens in rural areas for cataracts and provide for the cataract operation.

The special project of the club is considered to be conducting the Inter orphanage talent contest . In that contest over 1500 children participate win prizes and awards and the rotary club handles the whole show, sponsors, food, awards and amenities for them for all the day. The Rotary club separates the basic hygiene requirements of schools and help them by providing class rooms, toilet blocks, tables, chairs, drinking water and other needs. The club frequently dispenses educational needs like school bags, tiffin boxes, sandals, uniforms to poor corporation school children. The Rotary club sponsors Annadhanam(free food) to many Old Age Homes and center of destitute children. The club also sponsors education for many poor children. The club has been strengthened with lot of fellowship and projects.The members playing a great role in the coherence of the club functioning.
