Coriander (Dhania) is from herb family. All parts of the plant of Coriander(Dhania) are edible. The fresh leaves and the dried seeds are used in cooking in Chennai. It tastes salty. It gives heat as well as cools our body. Normally in Chennai people use this in Sambar, Rasam for the good smell. It is very much easy to grow in our house also. In Chennai people don't have much space to grow the plants. You can make Coriander paste and can had it with rice which is very good for health. Just frying it in the oil and put it on the place where you have swelling you will get relief from that. It gives strength to our teeth too. It nourishes our skin by delaying the skin problems and wrinkles also.

Coriander leaves has lots of medicinal benefits too. It controls the fever. Body gets energy if we use it regularly in our food. It contains antioxidants, so that it preents the spoilage of food. Even for Insomnia and relief of anxiety coriander leaves are used. For diabetes also it is used as a traditional medicine. Coriander juice when mixed with turmeric or mint juice is also made and used for acne on face as a toner. Some people are allergic too. Recipe to make Coriander Paste

Ingredients :

Tender Green Coriander Leaves (cleaned and washed) – 200 gms.
Garlic - 10
Ginger – 1 small piece
Green Chillies – 2 -3
Tamarind – a small lemon size
Salt – to taste
Oil – as required

Coriander paste is very easy to prepare and very tasty to eat. Take all the ingredients and mix it well in a mixer except salt and oil. Now heat the kadhai and pour oil. After the oil get heated pour the mixed ingredients in it and fry it add the salt when you see the oil is coming out in the side of the chutney. Take it out from the flame and your chutney is ready to use. It takes just 15-20 minutes to make this coriander chutney. If you have any left over cooked rice you can add this chutney in that rice and make coriander rice which is really tasty and good for health too. In Chennai people also use this chutney as side dish for having Idli and Dosa. Try this simple recipe and enjoy.

This is a great recipe.And actually coriander has many ayurveddic benefits.It is used for preparation of many ayurvedic medicines used for treatements of various disease.We have this recipe in our home for atleast twice a month.Coriander is added in our daily diet with or without noticement.It is good to chew fresh coriander leaves than frying it and making it as chutney.
