Festivals are great moments for people and for tamilnadu every day is a festival,Cultural festivals, heritage, etc.
Festivals of tamil nadu are to begin from this month. this could be a good season of festivals with variety. In tamil nadu a wide variety of festivals are celebrated in regards to culture , heritage and season.Main among the are :

Pongal
Pongal is the important among the festivals of tamilnadu. It falls in the mid-january i.e.
Thai 1
.It has a great significance as farmers would have harvested thier paddy crops sown at that time and would be happy with the income, hence they regard it as a thank giving to the god varuna for good rain at the time of sowing.Following it the next two days are
Uzhavar Thirunal and Thiruvalluvar dhinam
.The things that come in to mind when we talk about pongal are the two namely sugar cane and sweet pongal.
Uzhavar Thirunal
Uzhavar thirunal is the second day of pongal festival in which people offer pongal to the cattle especially cows and bulls for their tireless work in agriculture .On that day the highlight is the
Alanganallur Jallikattu
which is considered as the brave fight and respect by the people. One can find the cattles in the home like a newly born one which are so tidy with colors.
Thiruvlluvar dhinam
The third day of pongal is the thiruvalluvar day which is to honour the ancient saint cum poet Thiruvlluvar in respect to his book of truth named as "Thirukkural".
But this day is commonly known as
Kaanum Pongl
and it is much popular among chennaivasis. The great speciality is that one can see great mass of people gathered
at Marina Beach.
Tamil New Year
Tamil new year falls in the mid of the month April i.e.
April 14.
According to tamil calender
Chittirai
is the first month which falls on the mid of april. But this day is not considered now with much Importance. But the great in the month of chittirai is that
Azhagar Attril Iranguvathu
which is held at the banks of vaigai river in madurai.
Diwali
Diwali is the next great festival of Tamil nadu as the cracker city, Sivakasi is present in tamilnadu. At the time of diwali sivakasi is almost having its best season amongst the month of the years. As each and everyshops are always crowded and busy business takes place.Diwali justs reminds all of us about firing crackers.
Krishna jayanthi
Krishna Jayanthi is not a much populr one among the common masses of te state but it prevails most among the brahmins who consider sacred about lord Krishna. But lord Krishna is known for saving the people and cattles from the lord Indhira as he try to punish them. The sweet news is that krishna would steal the butter from each and every house and hence the people offer butter to lord Krishna on this day.
May Day
May Day is the first day of month celebrated in order to honour the Labours who work untiring for the welfare of their owners and thus providing all the needs of common masses.
