What is oats?
Oat is a whole grain like wheat, barley, corn and is called "Javi"in Hindi.
Oats is natural and one of the superior source of soluble fibre. it is a heart friendly health food containing Zero cholesterol and Zero Trans fatty Acids.
As part of healthy life style, 3 gm of soluble fibre daily from Oats in a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol may reduce the risk of heart disease.
Oats are good source of dietary fibre. Research shows that high intake of dietary fibre may help in weight management.

You can make a healthy porridge from a whole grain - Oats
Method: To 2 cups of boiling water add 1 cup of White Oats, cook for 5 minutes , stirring occasionally. Serve hot with sugar and milk. You may add fruits, nuts or other flavours. ( serves 2).
You can add 1 table spoon of white oats to each cup of any soup. Boil for another five minutes to enrich the goodness of oats.
Dry roast 1 cup of white oats for about 3 minutes. Finely chop 3 green chilles, ginger, onion and a garlic clove. heat one teaspoon of oil or ghee and add the finely chopped vegetables. Saute them for few minutes. Add 2 cups of water and 1 tsp of salt. Bring the water to boil and then blend the oats. Keep stirring till all water is absorbed. Serve hot with coconut chutney or any pickle.
