From the Central Railway station or Egmore Railway station, tourists can take a call taxi or Auto Rikshas to this place.

The temple shape is like a pyramid with 37 metre tall gopuram is colourful and the sculptures around the gopuram look real and wonderful .

The sculptor in the entrance is very interesting. It is believed that Gyanasambandar , a saint sung a song in praise of the Lord Shiva and brought a dead girl back to life.

Goddess Parvathi is depicted as peacock and worshipping the Lingam, the idol of Lord Shiva. It is unusual because Goddess Parvathi is worshipped as the wife of Lord Shiva in the Hindu religion.

The bronze carvings on 63 = Shaiva saints, are carried in procession during the great Aruvathumoovar festival, held every year during March-April.

It is worth watching the holy Punnai tree in the courtyard of the temple, which is one of the oldest trees in Chennai. Also the tank is very beautiful and maintained well.
