Sri Parthasarathy Temple, Triplicate is one of the ancient temples in Chennai city .

About Sri Parthasarathy Temple:
Sri Parthasarathy temple is situated in Triplicane very near to Marina Beach. This temple was built in 8th century and renovated during the reign of Vijayanagar emperors in 11th century.

The most exquisite feature of this temple is its Rajagopuram which is built in pyramidical shape on top. There is a pond near the temple which was full of water lilies once. The place name is derived from this . "Alli" in tamil means water lily and "Keni" means Pond .Later when the East India company took over the rule, they found if difficult the word Thiriallikeni and hence made it short as Triplicane.

About the Deity:
Although there are shrines for many incarnations of Lord Vishnu, the main deity worshiped here is Lord Krishna as "Parthasarathy". Pratha means Arjune and "Sarathy" means charioteer. The Lord himself came as the charioteer for Arjune during the war of Mahabharatha fought in Kurukshektra.

Festivals at Sri Parthasarathy temple:
Main festivals celebrated here are Brahmotsavam and Vaikunta Ekadasi.

The temple will be open from 6 a.m to 11.30 p.m and 5 p.m to 8 p.m.

How to reach Sri Parthasarathy temple:
Since the temple is in Peter's Road, Triplicane, the heart of Chennai City you can reach the tempple either by bus, auto rickshaw or call taxi.
