Location
The Place Singaperumal Koil, is a unique blend mix of a village and city, is situated about 44 km to the south of Chennai and located in the national highway between chennai and trichy.

The famous and very ancient Narasimha temple is located right at this place. The temple has its ancient roots and is over 1,500 years old. The temple is also known as the Pataladri Temple.

Presiding Deity

Arul Migu Prahlatha Varadha with Sridevi and Bhudevi
Arul Migu Ahobilavalli

About the Temple
The temple houses a fairly large idol (about 8ft) of Pataladri Narasimha carved out of a single red coloured boulder. Lord Narasimha is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He has lion head and human body. The name Singaperumal translates to Lion-god. On the Prakara are idols of Venkateshwara and Lakshmi-Narasimha Swami.

Since the idol is part of a large boulder and the hillock, one needs to perform girivalam, meaning go around the hillock, if one wishes to circumbulate the idol.

Apart from this there is also a wish-fulfilling tree, the Mandapa and the Bali Peetha.

The prasadam is sold in a stall located inside the temple premises and also uniquely you get the Dosas with chilli powder for a reasonable price, which tastes great. But it is available only during weekends.

Speciality
Here he proves to the Universe that both Hari and Hara is one and the same and not separate. While performing Arathi or deepararadhana, the priests lifts the "Namam" of Narasimhaswamy to reveal the third eye for the devotees. Since, the Narasimha here is an Ugra roopa, it is widely believed that if one sees the third eye of this god, all misery of life is removed.
