Dhokla is a traditional Gujarati style recipe which is made from Besan(Gram Flour).
Ingredients needed for Dhokla
Gram flour 2 cups
Curd (Stirred) 1cup
Green Chilies paste 1tsp
Ginger paste 1tsp
Salt to taste
Soda bi-carb 1tsp
1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
1tbsp Oil
Few Curry leaves
Mustard Seeds 1 tsp
Coriander leaves chopped 2 tbsp
Grated coconut 2 tbsp
How to prepare Dhoklas
In a bowl mix gram flour,Curd and water to make a smooth batter.
The batter should be of thick consistency. Add salt and set aside.
Mix the ginger paste, green chili paste,turmeric powder and add to the batter. Mix well.
Heat cooker with enough water.
Grease a baking dish, it should fit in the cooker. Add a tsp. of soda bi-carb and 1 tsp oil. Mix well.
Pour the batter into the greased pan and steam for 10-12 minutes or till done.
Cool and cut into cubes.
Heat oil in a small pan and add mustard seeds and curry leaves allow to splutter. Remove and pour it over dhoklas.
Garnish the besan dhokla with coriander and grated coconut. Serve with coriander chutney or sauce.
