Conjunctivitis and its Home Remedies

Conjunctiva

Conjunctiva is a thin membrane in front of the eyeball which covers the whole exposed surface of it.

Conjunctivitis

The inflammation of the Conjunctiva is termed as Conjunctivitis. In common terms, Conjunctivitis is also known as Sore Eyes.

Causes of Conjunctivitis

Pollution, dust, moving in excessively crowded areas, dirty surrounding and environment and filthy environment result in irritation of the Conjunctiva making it susceptible for Bacterial and Viral infection and cause Sore Eyes or Conjunctivitis.

Excessive strain and prolonged working in artificial and dim light also cause Conjunctivitis.

Presentation Signs and Symptoms of Conjunctivitis

The eyes become red and inflamed with excessive itching.

Watery secretion from eyes increases with burning and granular sensation in eyes. Severe cases have pus excretion from eyes which make the eyelashes to stick to each other in the morning on account of drying of Pus.

Home Remedies for Conjunctivitis

Raw juices of Carrot and Spinach when mixed together and when used to wash the eyes with a Eye Cup have been found to be very effective.

Combination of Raw Parsley (Prajmoda) along with Carrot Juice has also been found to reduce Conjunctivitis and sooth the eyes of their stressed condition.

Honey has also a good place in the treatment of Conjunctivitis.

Other different types of treatments available easily at home are:

1. Decoction of Coriander in lukewarm water.
2. Cold water fomentation
3. Exercises for relaxing eye strain.
