Kishkinta, like the monkey kingdom of the Ramayana, is one of the famous amusement parks of Chennai. It is loved by kids and elders, either six to sixty alike.

This is a theme water park and is an ideal destination for a weekend outing for the chennaites. In a place knbown for water scarcity and lack of rains, Kishkinta is a heaven which is full of green trees and abundant water. They are known for Rainwater harvesting , where in they have dug up about 6 man made artificial lakes inside the campus of Kishkinta and they have enough water for their water theme park. They have transplanted many trees from different parts of India to ensure shade and greenery.
Attractions of Kishkinta Park
WaterValcano - You cn see 5 lakh litres of water gushing out in 5 seconds with all the sound and visual effects of huge waves, earthquake , mist etc. You will just standby with a gaping mouth.
WavePool - This is a new addition, I suppose . This has got waves but no sand and salt water. Fresh water with waves, enjoy yourselves have a rollicking day.
Slides: This is a water slide about 180 ft long and has 6 tracks, starting at the top of a hill. You can just slide along with the water, young and old seem to like this very much. Many participate as families and slide together to just fall into the Pool in a thump.
Rain Disco: There are 12 raining monkey statues which squirt water at you while you rock and twist( really I mean twist as there is water underneath your feet) with the music played at 10000 watts supplemented by Digital controller dual CD player.
Road train: Chuk chuk goes the rtoy train chugging along carrying people people around the lake and over the country-side.
Space Shuttle: Try and reach out to the sky as it goes up and up and up and it comes down churning your stomachs. You can hear screams of enjoyment.

How to Reach Kishkinta:
You just have to reach Chennai First if you are coming from other parts of India . Then you can either drive down in a cab / Bus or travel by suburban train to Tambaram, in the south of Chennai. From tambaram you can get local transport if you are travelling by Bus / Train and is just 5 kms away from the Railway station or the Bus stand. Auto Rickshaws are also available.
If you are coming by Road / train from the southern parts of Tamil Nadu or from Kerala you will reach Tambaram first, if you are travelling the GST Road. NH 45. From there you can cut and go to Kishkinta from the busstand. You will have to take a left turn just before leaving the Tambaram area and you will reach Kishkinta.
